Who am I?
I'm Seluleko Buthelezi a PJE student assigned to find an engineering solution to a real life problem. This is a somewhat interesting challenge to myself which I am looking to tackle from every angle. I like getting challenged for my personal growth.

It's no secret that streetlights do contribute to frequent load shedding. Street lights consume a lot of energy as they are kept on from sunset to sunrise.

- Ever thought of operating them without electricity?
- Ever thought of making them only turn on when they have to to save power?
- How much energy and costs could be saved from that if the country would implement such an idea?

For this project. I am planning to design a system that would allow the street lights to be powered by solar energy, another thing is that the system will allow sensors. Since on the late hours of the day only a less number of people and cars need the street lights, they will turn on only when a person or a car is sensed, this will save energy as the lights won't be kept on without being used.
